Outcomes Research Associate

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Research Associate is directly responsible for overseeing and conducting research trials at farms, working closely with Outcomes Research Manager, ordering supplies for projects, setting project schedules, coordinating Research Technician duties, coordinating equipment, ensuring projects follow company standard operating procedures and trial protocols with staff members.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conducts trials according to protocol
• Communicates with the Outcomes Research Manager, farm manager and farm team on projects
• Prepares trial data for analysis
• Assists any visiting interns in learning aspects of swine production and research trials
• Performs any work necessary for data collection (weighing, treatment assignment, feed collections, etc)
• Coordinates repairs on equipment
• Ensures that projects meet Animal Care requirements
• Manages alarms or emergencies as they occur
• Oversee the Research Technician activities
• Works to continually improve processes and efficiencies, as well as, the company business plan and personal work goals
• Attends Research meetings
• Adheres to Farm SOP’s
• Adheres to the company’s confidentiality protocol
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management

Skills required for this position include:

Requires knowledge of scientific research methods and standards, prior experience with pig management and animal husbandry. Knowledge of basic computer programs is necessary.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

1. Master degree in Animal Science preferred, OR
2. A Bachelor degree in Animal Science,  AND
3. 2-4 years research experience, AND
4. 1-2 years’ experience with swine production, OR
5. Any similar combination of relevant education and experience
