    Nutrition Director

    The CVS Nutrition Director will be responsible for working with clients to increase their understanding of the effect of diets and nutrition strategies on the health, productivity and well-being of all phases of swine production including sows, replacement gilts, boars, nursery, grower and finisher pigs.   This position provides expertise and guidance on swine feed and nutrition to clients throughout the industry.  The CVS Nutrition Director will also be an advisor and partner to the CISS research team.

    Mixed-Animal Veterinarian

    The Mixed-Animal Veterinarian is responsible for providing practical and scientific services in a small community setting. The clinic services approximately 60% small animal and 40% large animals.  The Mixed-Animal Veterinarian will work in a modern clinic with digital radiology, ultrasound, dental machine, power equine dental float and a full diagnostic lab. The Mixed-Animal Veterinarian will direct a support staff and work closely with local pet rescues and the community.  The Mixed-Animal Veterinarian is also responsible for health ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and practices.

    Bilingual Data Analyst

    The Bilingual Analyst will divide their time between 1) being directly responsible for the data management of assigned client farms, and 2) writing clear reports and creating effective visualizations for various members of Carthage Veterinary Service, Ltd. and their clients at varying levels of seniority.  This position reports directly to the Records Director.

    IT Support Analyst

    The IT Support Analyst Under general supervision, the IT Support Analyst supports and maintains desktop computer systems, peripherals and office equipment both in the office environment and at remotely located Managed farm clients.  This position will act as a first-level resource for installing, maintaining and updating selected software and hardware products in the office and at remotely located farms.  Additionally, the IT Support Analyst assists in implementing practices that will more effectively utilize resources.  The IT Support Analyst must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to the client while maintaining confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed.

    The Senior Research Manager will have primary responsibility for leading and developing a team of research professionals tasked with the execution of research in a multidisciplinary applied swine science program.  The Senior Research Manager will work directly with outside partners, internal stakeholders, and the CISS team to ensure resources are in place to execute high quality research and drive business growth by providing best in class research execution and technical acumen.

    Carthage Innovative Swine Solutions Internship

    Carthage Innovative Swine Solutions offers opportunities for undergraduate students interested in pursuing careers in swine research to participate in commercial sow production in large, modern swine facilities.  Students will be provided the opportunity to work hands-on in commercial research facilities, learning about the overall process of commercial clinical trials and well as internal research and discovery trials.  Students will have the opportunity to learn new skills, enhance knowledge in the research and veterinary fields, practice real-life processes and put skills learned in the classroom into use on a day-to-day basis.

    Corporate Staff Accountant/Data Analyst

    The corporate accountant will provide support to the CVS corporate accounting department.   This position will be responsible for the daily processing of sales order & purchase orders to AR & AP invoices and ensure accurate billing, freight and taxes are applied as required.    As a data analyst they will be responsible for interpreting data, analyzing results & reporting to management.  They will provide assistance in maintaining a variety of financial transactions and records; compiling information and preparing financial reports.

    Receptionist

    Provides general office support with a variety of clerical activities and related tasks. The reception area is staffed with two Receptionists.  The Receptionists work together as a team and are responsible for answering incoming calls, directing calls to appropriate associates, mail distribution, flow of correspondence, as well as additional clerical duties. The Receptionists are expected to have the switchboard open and operating promptly at 7:00 a.m. and throughout the day until 5:00 p.m. One Receptionist will work from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm.  The other Receptionist will work from 8:00 am to closing at 5:00 pm.  The Receptionists will provide switchboard coverage for each other for a one-hour lunch, to be taken no later than five hours after the start of their shift. In the event one of the Receptionists is absent, the Receptionist should work with relief coverage to determine the appropriate time for lunch.

    Molecular Laboratory Technician I

    The Molecular Laboratory Technician I is responsible for sample and diagnostic data management for the Carthage Veterinary Service Laboratory.  This position will perform technical lab work requiring strong skills including ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay) and rt-PCR (Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction).  The Molecular Laboratory Technician will process specimens, perform molecular techniques associated with PCR, perform immunoassay (ELISA) and report diagnostic results to the veterinary team.  This position will report directly to the Laboratory Director.

Student Opportunities

CISS Research Internships
Carthage Veterinary Service, Ltd. offers opportunities to undergraduate and veterinary students to participate in a research internship program. Students will be provided opportunity to conduct commercial research trials with a focus on swine nutrition, production, behavior, environmental, or economics. Students will have the opportunity to learn new skills that enhances knowledge of the swine industry, standard farm practices, and veterinary medicine. Carthage Veterinary Service will be a catalyst in providing the student with a positive learning experience.

Internship Program
Our paid internship program is open to all full-time college and veterinary students who are enrolled in a college program and are studying agriculture, animal science, or veterinary medicine. Student housing is provided by the company. All students will be required to complete an independent research project focused around swine production and dependent on an intern’s particular interest. The results of the research will be presented at the conclusion of the program to various employees of the company. The company provides activities throughout the program to encourage networking, team building, and overall community engagement.

CVS Veterinary Externships
Carthage Veterinary Service, Ltd. offers opportunities to veterinary students to participate in a veterinary externship program. Students will work along veterinarians during their externship. Site visits can include herd evaluations, necropsies, serological profiling, ventilation auditing, as well as biosecurity auditing. Non-veterinary experience may include pig flows, production targets, record analysis, sow and/or wean-to-finish research with our Ph.D. nutritionist and research team as well as farm production visits with production teams. Externs will participate in herd staff discussions and may write a herd visit report.

Externship Program
Our externship program is open to all full-time veterinary students who have completed at least two full years of school and are studying veterinary medicine.

Housing is provided for externs.
