The Junior Software Developer is responsible for design, implementation, and maintenance of software to meet the needs of internal and external clients. The developer will work with the team and clients under supervision of the IT Director and Lead Software Developer to understand requirements, develop specifications, test and write software applications.
Carthage Diagnostic Lab is seeking a task-oriented, analytical individual to join our laboratory team. This position includes an extensive 90-day-on-the-job training program for all technical tasks. The Molecular Laboratory Technician will process specimens, perform molecular techniques associated with PCR, perform immunoassay (ELISA) and report diagnostic results to the veterinary team. This position will report directly to the Laboratory Director.
The Swine Veterinarian Assistant is responsible for providing technical support to our team of swine veterinarians as well as direct support of swine producer clients of Carthage Veterinary Service (CVS), supporting both health and production needs of progressive swine farms. This role will provide practical and scientifically sound technical skills and expertise in health management including biosecurity; disease control and treatment; regulatory, animal well-being and food safety requirements. The Swine Veterinarian Assistant is primarily responsible for supporting and supplementing CVS swine veterinarians as they interact with CVS clients, caretakers and associated farm support staff, providing verification of swine herd health while ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and production practices. Success in this role will require active collaboration with their CVS swine veterinarian teammates, providing clients with fiscally and socially responsible strategies for managing the health of their swine farms.
The Mixed-Animal Veterinary Assistant is responsible for assisting the veterinarian team in providing animal care services to clients and customers which includes administrative support. This person will also be responsible for the bathing, brushing, trimming, and providing other grooming services to domestic pets working under established guidelines and methods.
The Mixed-Animal Veterinarian is responsible for providing practical and scientific services in a small community setting. The clinic services approximately 60% small animal and 40% large animals. The Mixed-Animal Veterinarian will work in a modern clinic with digital radiology, ultrasound, dental machine, power equine dental float and a full diagnostic lab. The Mixed-Animal Veterinarian will direct a support staff and work closely with local pet rescues and the community. The Mixed-Animal Veterinarian is also responsible for health ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and practices.

CVS Veterinary Externships
Carthage Veterinary Service, Ltd. offers opportunities to veterinary students to participate in a veterinary externship program. Students will work along veterinarians during their externship. Site visits may include conducting herd evaluations, performing necropsies, serological profiling, ventilation auditing, as well as biosecurity auditing. Swine production experiences may include analyzing pig flows, reviewing production targets, and record analysis. Additional opportunities may include participation in sow and/or wean-to-finish research as well as site visits with production teams. Externs will participate in herd staff discussions and may write a herd visit report.
Externship Program
Our externship program is open to all full-time veterinary students who have completed at least two full years of school and are studying veterinary medicine.
Housing is provided for externs.

CVS Veterinary Internships
Carthage Veterinary Service, Ltd. offers opportunities to veterinary students to participate in a veterinary internship program. Students will gain experience by learning new skills that enhances knowledge of the swine industry, standard farm operating procedures, and swine veterinary medicine. Carthage Veterinary Service will serve as a catalyst in providing the student with a positive learning experience that enhances the intern’s knowledge.
Internship Program
Our internship program is open to all full-time veterinary students who have completed at least two full years of school and are studying veterinary medicine. Student housing is provided by the company. All students will be assigned a project at the start of their internship and provide regular updates and a comprehensive presentation of results at the conclusion of the program. In addition to conducting a research project, the student will learn basic technical tasks and sampling methods and participate in herd health visits and disease investigations. CVS strives towards increasing knowledge of competencies for swine veterinary practice. The company provides activities throughout the program to encourage networking, team building, and overall community engagement.
