Parts Procurement Specialist

 

The Parts Procurement Specialist secures required parts and equipment for swine clients of Carthage Veterinary Service.  This position works closely with farm managers and maintenance staff to ensure the correct parts and equipment is ordered for farm repairs and scheduled maintenance. This position will coordinate both the purchasing of parts and delivery to farms with vendors, farms and other team members.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research and order parts and equipment as directed or needed.
  • Work closely with swine clients to determine demand for parts and equipment.
  • Compare models and specs from multiple vendors to determine most efficient and cost effective products.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of parts to sustain operations.
  • Issue sales orders and purchase orders as directed or needed.
  • Assist walk-in clients with parts requests
  • Perform inventory cycle counts as directed.
  • Assist with fiscal year-end physical inventory.
  • Assist with unloading, opening, verifying the count and stowing of incoming freight.
  • Ensure visitors follow bio-secure guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  2. Specialized mechanical experience preferred
  3. Familiarity with swine farm equipment preferred

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Requires a positive, friendly and outgoing attitude and self-motivation.  This position requires task ownership and a commitment to follow-through to ensure client satisfaction. Must be able to multitask, handle urgent phone calls, unusual requests, analytical thinking, and a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work well with other team members, internal and external clients, as well as third party vendors.  Must possess proficiency in MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook.
