SENIOR RESEARCH MANAGER

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Senior Research Manager will have primary responsibility for leading and developing a team of research professionals tasked with the execution of research in a multidisciplinary applied swine science program.  The Senior Research Manager will work directly with outside partners, internal stakeholders, and the CISS team to ensure resources are in place to execute high quality research and drive business growth by providing best in class research execution and technical acumen.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead and develop a cohesive, sustainable, and scalable team of research professionals
• Efficiently plan resources for trial execution through priority setting and strong communication
• Continuously improve research execution processes to drive efficiency and cost control
• Work directly with research partners and sponsors to understand needs, provide research updates, and report results
• Actively seek out new business for CISS through networking and customer relationships
• Work collaboratively with the entire research team to ensure trials are executed according to expectations and meet scientific quality standards
• Implement a research quality management system
• Assist scientists and research customers with trial design, data analysis and interpretation and report writing
• Ensure that all projects meet Animal Care requirements
• Participation in meetings with sponsors, potential clients, and advisory boards
• Manage alarms or emergencies as they occur
• Perform any work necessary for data collection (weighing, treatment assignment, feed collections, etc)
• Adhere to company confidentiality policies
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

1. Master’s or Ph.D degree OR
2. A Bachelor degree in Animal Science  AND
3. 5-7 years experience in the Animal Science field
