Supply Purchasing Analyst

The Supply Purchasing Analyst will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, optimizing purchasing strategies, and ensuring cost-effective procurement of farm supplies. This position will also serve as a point of contact for clients looking for pricing quotes and cost competition supply options. The Supply Purchasing Analyst will possess a strong understanding of purchasing processes, good negotiation skills, and the ability to analyze market trends.  This position encompasses sales, inventory management, customer service and leadership.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze purchasing data, including purchase orders, invoices, and inventory levels, to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve purchasing efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather purchasing requirements and specifications for goods and services.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier performance to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
  • Assist in the development of purchasing strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize procurement processes and reduce costs.
  • Enter product information (costs, pricing, technical details) into all relevant electronic systems.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, logistics, and operations, to coordinate purchasing activities and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on purchasing activities, supplier performance, and cost savings initiatives to management.
  • Support customer requests for product-related queries.
  • Assist Management team to develop the product line.
  • Work closely with the internal and external clients to address specific product requests and issues.
  • Develop and maintain positive customer interaction relations.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of swine production supplies, parts and products.
  • Compare models and specs from multiple vendors while seeking cost reduction opportunities.
  • Resolve all customer issues in a timely, efficient and least costly manner.
  • Coach and train team members on new and existing products.
  • Assisting with scheduled quarterly physical inventory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possess good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Possess good math, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to quickly recognize problems and devise a solution.
  • Ability to work independently, accept direction from others and lead as needed.
  • Proficiency in MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Proficiency in purchasing software and tools, such as ERP systems and procurement platforms.

 

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, AND
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in purchasing, supply chain management, customer service or related field.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    1. Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
    2. Familiarity with swine farm supplies and equipment.
    3. Bilingual in English and Spanish
