BASIC FUNCTION:

The Production Manager of Research Operations is responsible for leading a team of Research Associates focused on conducting cutting-edge research within commercial research facilities. The Production Manager of Research Operations will also be responsible for oversight of day-to-day care of trials and data collection as outlined in sponsor protocols and verifying that research trials are conducted according to company SOP’s and quality standards.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Research Associates through daily coaching, strong communication, planning, effective delegation, and priority setting.
  • Provide timely updates to research sponsors as needed
  • Ensure facility and research SOP’s are executed properly
  • Ensure equipment and supplies are available for conducting research trials
  • Ensure that projects meet Animal Care requirements
  • Participation in meetings with potential sponsors and advisory boards in a professional manner
  • Manage alarms or emergencies as they occur
  • Continuously improve research processes and efficiencies to improve data quality and reduce cost
  • Attend and lead discussions during research meetings
  • Assist any visiting interns in learning aspects of swine production and conducting trials
  • Perform any work necessary for data collection (weighing, treatment assignment, feed collections, diagnostic sample collection, etc.)
  • Adhere to the company’s confidentiality policies
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by management

  • Detail oriented
  • Verbal and written communication
  • People and leadership skills
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Knowledge of pig production
  • Knowledge of research study conduct

 

Education and Work Experience:

  1. Master’s degree OR
  2. A Bachelor degree in Animal Science or related field  AND
  3. 2-3 years of experience in the Animal Science field
